Justin if you mean 31 May, I'll welcome the meeting and a pint. My great grandfather was Denis McCarthy born in what I understand is Skibbereen in 1859 to Denis and Mary O'Driscoll.

Jud hello again. I see that you are also from Florida. Where and when did your family arrive from Ireland? Denis arrived the summer of 1883 via NYC.

I need to correct the townland, it is Malcragh, Kilmichael. There's another similarly named townland on the other side of Dunmanway town.

I do not know if I can be of any help. I do not have very much information and became a bit lost reading through the post.
My grandfather was a Daniel Joseph McCarthy III. I know his family came from Ireland to America and Canada My grandfather lived in Connecticut and then moved to California (Orange County/LA area). His mothers name is Irene McCarthy. I know his father (my great grandfather) divorce his mother and remarried a lady with several children. I know he was in the service for a short time and was born in 1925/blood type RH-O. He also had a sister who was murdered. He was married to my grandmother Clytie (Claytie)McCarthy (maiden name Butler). My mom, his daughter, Linda McCarthy Lane and uncle Daniel Joseph McCarthy(4th). If there are any connections please email me at laura7lane@yahoo.com.

I would very much appreciate a reply to my personal email, as I have recently been exploring some of the USA Hogseth genealogy. Martin Hogseth is my grandfather, and Ole's brother. I have found info on their two sisters, Juline and Emilie (aka Amelia), as well as two nephews, both named Peter, one a son of Johan, and one a son of Peder. My direct email is stevehogsethDOTATyahooDOTcom

hello marmum57 (Margaret), I am not sure exactly which message your reply is to. I guess I really don't comprehend the message threading here very well. You said "Hi from Ireland. Yes,the names you have correspond with what I have. Their grandparents were Donal(Daniel) McCarthy and Ellen Hurley. Feel free to contact me any time.
Best of luck.
Margaret "

Whose parents are these?

Regards,
Bob

My reply is saying their grandparents were Ellen Hurley and Donal McCarthy. I hope this is of interest to you. Yes, I am calling from Ireland, All of the McCarthy's on my side came from Dromdrastil, Dunmanway Co. Cork. Best Wishes, Margaret (Mccarthy)

Bob, I forgot to mention that the parents of Cornelius were Cornelius Mccarthy and Johanna Kingston. they married in february 1853. I was not aware that most of the family had emigrated to the USA.

Best regards.

Thank you for the information, Margaret! Yes I am very interested. I have been studying more of the area of Kilmichael and Fanlobbus, learning its history and seeing more of what it looks like now (Google streetview has some marvelous detail). I really need to visit Ireland and see this for myself.

So Cornelius Sr's parents were Donal and Ellen Hurley. More Hurleys! I have them in two other unconnected places in my tree. Carroll also makes multiple appearances.

Do you know when Donal and Ellen lived? Where are you in this tree? I'd love to exchange more information!

Jeremiah J. McCarthy of Manchester, NH

Hello,

I'm hoping someone can help me find any new information on a Jeremiah J. McCarthy. I have hit an absolute brick wall and haven't been able to break through.

Jeremiah McCarthy was born in Ireland between 1866-1869. I haven't been able to find where in Ireland. On his marriage certificate his father was also listed as Jeremiah and his mother listed as Mary. According to his Naturalization papers he arrived in New York on September 21, 1885. I have not been able to locate any immigration or arrival papers unfortunately. He married Mary F. Wingate in Manchester, NH on February 23, 1889. Their children included Charles, John, Mary, Michael, and Margriet. I have heard he died some time around 1962, probably in Manchester, NH but have been unable to find any documentation on this.

I would love to be able to take that next step and find out where in Ireland he was born. Any information would be great. Thanks for your help!
